ZRC SAZU Commission for Ethics, Integrity, and Equal Opportunities in Research
The ZRC SAZU Commission for Ethics, Integrity, and Equal Opportunities in Research (EIEM Commission) is a consultative body at ZRC SAZU. It addresses issues related to ethics, integrity, and equal opportunities in research, providing explanations, opinions, and approvals on these matters. The Commission operates under the Rules on the ZRC SAZU Commission for Ethics, Integrity, and Equal Opportunities in Research and the ZRC SAZU Strategy for Ethics, Integrity, and Equal Opportunities in Research.

The Commission’s tasks include:
- Advising and supporting employees on ethics, integrity, and equal opportunities in research;
- Developing guidelines for addressing issues of research ethics, integrity, and equal opportunities;
- Conducting ethical reviews of research in scientific fields covered by ZRC SAZU institutes based on voluntarily submitted applications (the ethical review procedure is currently under preparation);
- Updating and renewing the Gender Equality Plan and periodically monitoring its implementation;
- Contributing to the development of protocols for reporting and handling violations of ethical and integrity principles, disrespectful behavior, abuse of power, harassment, and sexual or other forms of misconduct in the workplace;
- Organizing consultations, workshops, and training on ethics, integrity, and equal opportunities in research;
- Monitoring awareness of ethics, integrity, and equal opportunities issues at ZRC SAZU and proposing improvements in these areas.

Violations of research ethics and integrity are addressed in accordance with the Rules on the Handling of Violations of Research Ethics and Integrity Principles at ZRC SAZU.
The process for addressing alleged violations begins with a formal report of the violation or by the initiative of the EIEM Commission.
Reports must be submitted in writing and addressed exclusively to the EIEM Commission via email at komisija-EIEM@zrc-sazu.si or by mail to: ZRC SAZU, Novi trg 2, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenija, with the note "For the EIEM Commission".
The report must include the name of the reporting person, the name of the individual accused of the violation, a description of the misconduct, and any available evidence to substantiate the claim. It may also propose ways to remedy the harmful consequences of the violation. Reports can also be submitted anonymously and will be reviewed if, apart from the name of the reporting person, they contain all the required elements outlined above.
Members of the EIEM Commission act as confidential advisors who can provide informal and confidential consultations to individuals who have observed a violation of research ethics and integrity at ZRC SAZU, prior to the formal submission of a report.
